Parish Pastoral Council

What Are the Roles & Responsibilities of the Parish Pastoral Council?

Our Parish Pastoral Council has a duty to help & support the Parish Clergy who are appointed to administer our Parish, and to help them to oversee the day to day running, maintenance, and well being of it.

As Canon Law puts it:

Canon 536 §1: “If the diocesan bishop judges it opportune after he has heard the presbyteral council, a pastoral council is to be established in each parish, over which the pastor presides and in which the Christian faithful, together with those who share in pastoral care by virtue of their office in the parish, assist in fostering pastoral activity.”

This sentiment is encapsulated in the Parish Pastoral Council Constitution approved during our Parish AGM in 2009.

Members of the Parish Pastoral Council, Parishioners on their committees, and many other Parishioners, work very diligently behind the scenes to ensure our Parish functions and looks as well as it does.
